Chateau Chantal is a unique development that combines a winery, vineyards, bed and breakfast, residence, six private home sites, and winding roads, all of which combine to create a “retreat into the Old World.” The 65 acre site sits high atop a ridge 12 miles north of Traverse City, Michigan on the beautiful and historic Old Mission Peninsula. Chateau Chantal crafts many styles of wine, allowing the grape to dictate the style. The location’s unparalleled views and outstanding staff play host to B&B activities, cooking classes, wine education opportunities, Tapas Tours, conferences and meetings, small weddings, and friendly regional wine events.
A combination of the best of our past tours- some tapas style tasting, a fun exploration of how ALL of our senses interact when we wine taste, all led by a knowledgeable wine educator.
The two hour tour begins with a blind tasting in black wine glasses which completely hide the color of the wine. It’s amazing to see what happens when you focus a tasting strictly on your nose and palate – without the eye, you might be surprised that you can’t tell between a white and red wine!
After an additional experiment in musical influence on tasting, the specialized tour guide leads guests through the vineyard, cellar, and winemaking process. Guests enjoy sampling numerous wines as well as small-bite food and wine pairings designed to treat your taste buds.
Starting in June, the tours will run daily at 12:30pm. Visit our tasting room before or after your tour for a lunch pairing, the tour is a compliment to a meal, not a meal in itself. Only 24 spots per tour so book yours before it is too late!
Tickets are $29 per person. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions that we should make our chef aware of, please notate in the comment section at the end of this order.

Chateau Chantal is proud to announce that Lisa Flahive has been selected as the Artist in Residence for their 21st anniversary season. Lisa has a B.F.A in Studio Art from Michigan State University. She is most widely known for her expressive drawings and watercolor paintings of jazz musicians, captured during their performances.
Flahive said she doesn’t sit in the studio painting from photographs that have no life. Instead, she creates the work live in order to capture the energy and emotion that exists on the bandstand. “These paintings have an intensity that I could never achieve in the studio,” said Flahive.
You can watch Flahive create this impressive artwork live every Thursday evening this summer at Chateau Chantal during Jazz at Sunset with the Jeff Haas Trio. Flahive’s artwork can be purchased at the winery. Proceeds benefit Building Bridges with Music.
Bring the family and friends and enjoy the best in live jazz, taste select Chateau Chantal wines and lemonade for the kids (yes, this is a very family-friendly environment), and feast your eyes on spectacular panoramic views of West and East Grand Traverse Bays. And there is no admission charge. It all happens at Chateau Chantal on Old Mission Peninsula, 1.7 miles north of the village of Mapleton on Center Road.
